A Cure

I've been a bad blogger lately. No schedule. No real subject. Just lots of randomness to fill each day and only some of it do I remember to share. I really must do better.

I'm just not yet sure what will help me do better right now. I'm not really writing much at all, blog or wip. Even my tweets are growing sparse and if you know me, you know that is a major sign that something isn't flowing right. I mean, I've even lost a lot of my thrill and will to read. Seriously. It's taking me days to get through books that once would have taken me a few hours.

Anyone else know what this is? Is it just fallout from the insane weather we've been having in Utah? First 80* then the next day blizzard? Is that what is messing up my jive?

Any magical cures out there?

Think about a person that annoys you the most, then write something about them that gives them a redeemable quality. It's as difficult as you think it would be, but it's a great way to get the creative juices flowing. :)

I'm still looking for it, too. If I find it, I'll let you know! Hope today goes better for you than it sounds like it started.

We seem to be swimming in the same pool of late! I think it is just a product of the chaos we have lived...it'll all come back. I hope that it is sooner for you, rather than later!

When I posted something similar to this on an old forum, the leader of the writing group told me to read this. It was the best advice I've ever been given, and I totally recommend you read it if you haven't.

And if you have, read it again. She has a whole chapter devoted to what you just described.

Good luck!

Hang in there. I've been in a bit of a funk myself. We'll get through somehow!

Pam - right now it feels like there's too many to choose from!

Stephanie - yes, please do share it!

Christine - when you think it's bad, it just keeps getting worse :(

TBL Samurai - Thanks. I'll take a look at it!

Kate - yeah, totally. I'll meet you there!

It must be the weather. Or something in the water. I haven't used twitter in days, and I don't even miss it. I'm still working on my wip though, one word at a time. And reading? I went back to "The Book Thief" an old favorite (it's not really old, but I've read it 5 times already. I absolutely love it). Maybe all these symptoms are the prelude of a productive summer. I hope.

The first thing we should be doing as writers is living our lives to the fullest...and then we write. Living our lives in the blogosphere is not living. Keeping up on twitter is not living. I know that Davin from the Lit Lab recently had a hard time with his writing, and he knew it would pass and he would soon get back into it if that was what meant to happen. He's writing again, and he seems very happy.

Don't feel bad. Keep going, and enjoy your life! Creativity will come back. :)
