Seasons Change

Well, it's Wednesday, in case anyone missed the memo.

And it is still frigidly cold outside, unseasonably, I'd say. It feels more like January than December. Yes, I know, yet another mention of the freezing cold. I can't help it. It seeps into your bones and you can totally feel it trying to eat you alive!

I'm so not regulated to this temperature, despite living here almost all my life.

But there's something to be said about the cold and the onset of winter: seasons are changing.

In those 3 little words there is so much to interpret in so many different aspects.

For me, I know I've changed as a writer over the years and even more so in the last few months. I approach the craft differently now, I've met amazing people who've made a huge impact on what I do and how I do it. I've gotten better.

How have you changed since you started as a writer? What lessons have you learned?

I have changed SOOOOOOOOOOOO much since I started this amazing journey...and that's exactly what it's been. An enjoyable journey. Can I say I have always enjoyed it...oh no!! Rejection used to sting like crazy.....but since those days I have learned to take it better and learn from it. Saying I've grown as a writer is an understatement....I shock myself sometimes when I read my current wip....."Did I really write that awesome scene????" I truly believe that persistence and an open mind will get me very far in this business! :)

I could write an essay of 50,000 words describing the ways I've changed. But I won't. Needless to say, I am not the same writer I was two years ago. Not the same at all.

I've learned that there's no decent substitute for time and distance. They provide a clarity that I need desperately.

I've changed significantly in the last ten years. It's been a slow ride but one I can appreciate. I wonder where I'll be in a year? Hmmm,,, all good places, God willing.

Change is immeasurable. I write well enough to know that I am not a great writer, and that is a big change. I also write well enough to know that I write WAY better than I did seven years ago!

I love this! I do love change and I've lived in places where the seasons don't really change. Well, subtly they do... I love that we can change subtly, but isn't it amazing when you can look back a short distance and see more of a leap forward in growth instead of just a baby step?

My writing has definitely changed for the better thanks in great part to the people I've met online. It's been an amazing process!

My writing is better, my knowledge of the industry is better. And thank goodness! Those first queries I sent out were SO bad. *sigh*
